Kas ir AO? AO ir 1985.gadā Aizkrauklē dzimušais Andris Ondzulis, kuram viena no aizraujošākajām lietām ir šķitusi tieši muzikālie eksperimenti. Ar hardcore, gabber mūziku pirmo reizi izdevās iepazīties 1994.gadā, kad izdevās sadabūt pirmās, tepat Latvijā izdotās nelegālās(?) audio-kasetes, kurās bija iespēja saklausīt, piemēram, vienus no pirmajiem "Rotterdam Records" leibla produktiem (piem. projektu "Euromasters"). Protams, toreiz iespējas Latvijā dabūt kko no šiem ierakstiem, vismaz man, 9-gadīgam puikam bija tuvu nullei, taču laika gaitā ar šo mūzikas stilu ir sanācis ļoti cieši sadraudzēties un tas tiek klausīts gan ikdienā, gan arī tiek veikti dažādi eksperimenti šajā lauciņā. Kas attiecas uz iecienītiem pasākumiem, tad AO iecienījis, piemēram, "Thunderdome" un "Masters of Hardcore". Protams, ir sanācis iepazīties arī ar citiem mūzikas stiliem, kā arī šad un tad uzspēlēt ne pārāk lielai auditorijai. Piemēram, 2003.gadā ir veidots trance stila remix Yana's Kay gabalam "Ja spasu tebja", ir mēģināts šis tas tehno lauciņā. Lai nu kā, bet draudzība tieši ar hardcore un gabber ir bijusi visciešākā, līdz ar to izklaide ir turpināta tieši šajā stilā. Iespējams, ka tiks uzspēlēts arī kāds DJ sets, jo ar dīdžejošanu AO ir draugos no 14 gadu vecuma. Ikdienā jau vairākus gadus AO darbojas sporta žurnālistikā. Futbols un ultras subkultūra (kurai veltīts ne mazums laika un pūļu) ir vēl viena liela AO aizraušanās. Gabber (IPA pronunciation: English /gæ.bər/, Dutch /xɑbər/), gabba or hardcore, is a style of electronic music and a subgenre of hardcore techno. "Gabber" literally means "buddy" or "friend". Although in the late 1980s, a house variant from Detroit first reached Amsterdam (the Netherlands), it was the producers and DJs from Rotterdam who evolved it into a harder house variant which we today know as "Gabber" style or "Hardcore". The specific sound of Rotterdam was also created as a reaction to the house scene of Amsterdam which was seen as more "snobby and pretentious". The essence of the gabber sound is a distorted kick sound, overdriven to the point where it becomes clipped into a distorted square wave and makes a recognizably melodic tone. Gabber tracks typically include samples and synthesised melodies with the typical tempo ranging from 150 to 220 bpm. Violence, drugs and profanity are common themes in gabber, perceptible through its samples and lyrics, often screamed, pitch shifted or distorted. The aforementioned two subgenres of gabber differ in essentially one thing: the tempo. * Oldskool gabber, staying true to its mentality, defines "hardness" in speed; tracks rarely go under 180 BPM, and bass drum rolls often go up to a speed where the beats themselves are hardly distinguishable from each other. * Nuskool gabber, however, slows the speed down to 160 BPM, but extends the length of the bass drum so the bass-frequency resonance keeps on longer. (In this aspect, "nugabber" obviously cannot be considered less powerful than its precursor, although slower hardcore is often less energetic.) A typical style is one best made known by Rotterdam Terror Corps: the beats are divided into triplets and all hoover notes are played in a short, staccato-like fashion, giving the song a march-like feel.
