DJ Tester (also known as 'Gumbert', born 16.07.1981) since the very beginning of the 90s was under the strong influence of the mainstream of that time called Eurodance. Yes, he remembers such things as Radio Dejas, Super FM Deju klubs. At around 1996, attending clubs where dj battles took place, he was introduced into the electronic dance scene of that time - acid house, techno, jungle and trance. As the popularity of eurodance went down at around 1997, becoming fully commercial, BBC Radio 1 became favorite, where such DJs like Judge Jules, Paul Oakenfold, Carl Cox, were making broadcast gigs. Since that time, trance in all its variations became favorite.

During a period of studies, he was performing on private or school parties only, simultaneously attending rave events at VEF factory, Sapnu Fabrika, Kinostudija, Dizzi, etc. Only after a period of 5 years, in June 2003, Tester with friends had organized a trance party called 'Transformance'. Party had a great success and became an official start point in a career of many other trance DJ's of our time. Since July 1, 2003, he is a founder of a new latvian trance music community - Trance.LV.

Clubs

Becoming an underground trance DJ, Tester played across Latvian clubs such "Essential", "Pulse", "Depo", "Art & Music Bakery", "Kapsula" in Riga, "Tonuss" (Jelgava), "Relax" (Rezekne), "Randevu" (Bauska), and organized a variety of minor club parties such "HeartBeat" series in Pulse, and annual Trance.LV anniversary parties, from which "Tranceport" (June 2007, Andrejsala) and "Trance Only" @ Korpuss 16 (2008), "Raveday" (April 2010, Andrejsala) were the biggest ones. Tester had played on one stage with such artists as Airbase (Sweden), Albert Vorne (Italy), Pulser (Andy Perring, UK), Eastbam (Roberts Gobziņš, LV).

Tester says, that DJing is just his hobby, but not a profession, nor a job. Combining the catchy music, dancefloor sound becomes extremely energetic. For relaxing purposes, he is experimenting with psychill and lounge.

Brief career summary:

1998 - first attempt to approach a radio DJ career was made on a local non-commercial radiostaton "Radio TOP" (now "TOPradio").

1999-2002 some private parties only

2003-2008 trance/uplifting trance music DJ

2009 - "Art & Music Bakery" club resident & promoter. 

2009-2011 - progressive house & tech-house DJ.

Tastes in electronic music were influenced greatly by such artists as Kraftwerk, Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Depeche Mode, Brian Eno, Aphex Twin, Westbam, Paul van Dyk, and others.
